My new granddaughter is here! She arrived rather unexpectedly on Feb. 19th. My daughter was feeling ill, and thought she was coming down with a terrible cold. She spent the day in a chair, covered with a blanket. Ella and Travis played and watched TV most of the day. Jen felt guilty about that, but she just couldn't move. She was scheduled to have the baby by C-section on March 4th. Later that night, the contractions began, and by the time they got to the hospital, she was 9 centimeters. Kayla was born at 3:20 in the morning.
She was taken to the NICU because the doctor thinks she has a bit of pneumonia. The first time I saw her, she had a plastic "bubble" over her head for oxygen. We couldn't pick her up at the time.
The second day, she had a regular tube of oxygen in her nose, so Jen could hold her. I got a turn too. She looks a lot like Ella did, with even more dark hair. We are all praying that being in the NICU is just a minor setback. She looks wonderfully healthy!
