I am encouraged to read that some farmers in Tennessee are growing crops for the production of ethanol instead of, or at least in addition to tobacco. Corn is the the crop most associated with ethanol, but they have also discovered switchgrass can be just as good. It grows just about anywhere. The article also said that tobacco itself can even be used to make ethanol!
I've always wondered how tobacco famers can live with the the knowledge that their crop can cause so much harm to so many. Now this gives them a chance to get rid of that evil crop and raise one that will actually be of benefit!
My hope is that many more farmers will follow this path, and that tobacco smoking will become a dim memoy!
