The other night at dinner, Ella was eating her pasta, plain, as usual. She looked around at the pets, and said "If we love animals so much, why aren't we vegetarians?" Good observation for a just-turned-seven year old! All Jen could say was, "Well, you could talk to your friend's mom; she's one." It wouldn't be a big change for Ella if she decides to go that way. About the only meat she eats is chicken nuggets.
Ella also pretended to have a microphone in her hand and turned to me suddenly, and asked "What are you doing to save the planet?". I said "I recycle. What do you do?" She made a motion with her hand, indicating turning off a light switch. She also said she uses a flashlight to save electricity. I'm glad she's thinking about these things!
