Amazing

My grandchildren ae amazing. Every time I'm with them, they blow me away with the things they say and do.

Kayla doesn't talk much yet, and is learning "baby signs" courtesy of an early intervention program. She catches on so quickly! We can now ask her sign something and she has it. What's funny is that when I ask her what a dog says, she just signs "dog" instead of making the sound. On the other hand, when she sees a dog, she will go "woof, woof".

It's great that I can know what she wants when she signs something. While I was getting her ready for bed, she grabbed the little Christmas music box on the bureau. I wound it up, and it played for a minute or two. When it stopped, Kayla signed "more". I asked "More music?". She smiled and I turned it on.

Travis is aquiring an understanding of numbers already. He's been in pre-school for 3 months. As we were walking up the path to the house, he told me they had six candy cane lights. Then he said, "If you add one more, there will be seven". Later on, he was playing a computer game, and added up the choices, perfectly. He also added the next row, saying "There are five, so all of them will make ten!".

Ella is the deep thinker of the kids. We were driving home from ballet class, and passed a huge Christmas display at a church. She asked what the words said and I read "A Savior is born". She asked what a savior was, and I explained that Jesus came to be our savior, and after He died, he rose. She pondered for a minute and asked"Why doesn't that happen any more?". Her father's aunt died recently and I think she's wondering where we go and if we can come back. Obviously I don't have all the answere, but I love that she's asking the questions.
