Bad break; part two

I had to have been dozing because of the morphine, when I heard my phone ringing. The nurse gave it to me and when I answered, Joe said "Where are you?" I answered "At the hospital, I broke my arm". I didn't notice, but later, Joe said that the nurse was in the background loudly saying "She's going to need an operation!" He also told me later that I just degenerated into nonsense after that. It was a blessing that I didn't know anything else until I woke up in a hospital room. It was sometime around 9 or 10 in the morning. I think. Really, time meant nothing at that point. When I was more aware of my surroundings, I discovered a huge yellow foam thing on my arm. It's called a carter pillow. It protected my arm from being jostled or bumped, but was incredibly awkward. I still had some pain, but the nurses were good about adjusting my medication as needed. In the early afternoon, Jenn, Justin and the grandkids all came to visit. I was thrilled. They hadn't been in the door two minutes, though, when Travis said "Dad, I don't feel good. I think I'm going to puke". Justin had to take him out for a while. Ella and Kayla came right up on the bed with me. Ella said the foam pillow looked like Swiss cheese. When Travis came back, he called it SpongeBob. It was so nice to have them visit. I learned later on, that Joe had our friends John and Elaine go up to my job and get my van. It's great to have such loyal friends. Saturday was spent laying around. Sunday, I was getting restless, so I was allowed to walk around the halls. I got the word that I could be released, which was such a relief. Jenn came to pick me up and I was outta there! We stopped at the pharmacy for pain medication, but I only took it for the first few days. The next two weeks passed in a blur of reading, sleeping, going online and naps. Apparently healing broken bones is exhausting!
