things I don't "get"

There are many things I just don't "get".

What is up with paying so much attention to fingernails?! There are now separate little salons that specialize in just fingernails. I don't get why someone would want all those pretty little designs, jewels, etc. on their fingernails, and pay good money for it. Just baffles me.

And body piercing! Have people gone back to primitive times? I thought we left that behind when we came out of the jungles.

Designer handbags; huh? I like things that look nice as much as anyone, but to pay the kind of money the designer things cost, doesn't make the slightest sense to me. Is it just to say "I can afford this?" As long as an item functions well, and doesn't look shabby, why pay more than you have to?

I have never understood shoe obsession either. I currently own a pair of work shoes, a pair of sneakers, a pair of slip-ons, winter boots, and riding boots. I could use a pair of "dress up" shoes, but rarely go anywhere to need them. Otherwise, I think I have more than enough. What is with "needing" certain shoes to go with certain outfits? Get things that work with multiple uses!

I guess I'm just too pratical for today's world. There must be more women like me out there. At least I hope so!
