A Beagle is the new Best in Show dog at Westminister dog show! For those of enchanted by beagles, it's big news! I am surprized that a beagle hasn't been top dog before.
My daughter got her beagle, Cody 7 1/2 years ago. He has had me under his spell from the start. He is just so darn cute. I taught him several tricks, and this impressed people from a beagle rescue that I talked to. Well, I said, you just have to use food for a reward! One thing a beagle loves about as much as anything, is food! In fact, it's very easy to over feed them. Those soulfull brown eyes and tilted head just beg to be fed. Cody is great at cleaning up my grandson's spills!
Some people don't like the beagles' voice, but I love it. I especially love hearing Cody outside, running in the woods, baying after some scent he's tracking. That's when he's his happiest. His nose is down, and his tail is wagging furiously. Even in winter, Cody is the one who wants to go out all the time, and will stay out the longest, of the two dogs.
