Tell me it's not so! We finally get a nice stretch of weather, and I realised that the sunset is around 7:30! It's almost completely dark by 8. That doesn't give me nearly as much time outside as I want, or need. Even the vegetable garden is showing signs of giving up. I want to tell it to please hang in there, that there are many more days of warmth and sun.
Tomorrow I will plant more lettuce, and maybe even some beans, to see if they will make it to production before fall really arrives.
Today at work while I was weeding, I found two tiny tomato plants. I gently pulled them up and brought them home. I'll plant them it the largest containers I have and try to grow them for late season production. My porch stays warm till November, so I think I have a good chance of making this work. By the time I have to bring them in the house, they could have tomatoes on them. Wouldn't it be a treat to have fresh tomatoes for Christmas!
Summer, please stay a while longer.
