Now that the winter solstice has come, I can start feeling better about The Darkness. That's what I call winter, because I feel as if I live my life in a cave this time of year. It's dark when I get up and dark when I come home from work. Unless I have a day off, the only sun I see is from the window.
Even though I'm from New Hampshire, I never really have been a big fan of winter. Tried skiing; didn't like it. I'm not an adrenaline junkie, so hurtling down a hill with two sticks strapped to my feet just isn't my thing. I used to toboggan, though. My brother and I made a fantastic toboggan run up in the woods when we were teenagers. I also used to ice skate; until I broke my wrist in a fall. Getting older has lowered my tolerance for cold and pain, I think.
So now I will play a mental game with myself, and say that I know it's getting lighter every day now, and all I have to do is hang in there till spring!
